Zion Church and Clarion County Children & Youth Services is pleased to invite you to attend this two-day Empowered to Connect Conference Simulcast April 8 and 9, 2016. The simulcast is a collaboration between Show Hope Ministries (Steven Curtis Chapman) and the Texas Christian University Child Development Center!

The Empowered to Connect Conference, led by Dr. Karyn Purvis, is a tremendous resource for a parent of any child and is an ideal and proven parenting technique for children who have experienced trauma of any kind. Examples of children who benefit from the Trust Based Relational Model of Parenting include:

foster and adopted children

children born after high-risk or high-stress pregnancies

children who have spent time in the NICU or experienced childhood illnesses

children who have experienced traumatic events such as divorce or exposure to violence

children who have learning disabilities, insecurities, or emotional disturbances

Encouraged to attend are individuals and Agencies serving and supporting children who have experienced trauma, including:

ParentsAdoptive Parents, Foster Parents, Social WorkersTherapists or CounselorsMedical Personnel, Church Staff, Guardians Ad Litem/CASA, JudgesTeachers

Please join us in learning how the connecting, correcting and empowering principles can have a profound effect on your day to day lives. Dr. Karyn Purvis is considered to be the attachment and bonding guru and her work through TCU has helped change the lives of children and families.

Date: Friday, April 8th and Saturday, April 9th from 10am to 6pm both days.

Attendees are encouraged, but not required, to attend both days of this event. Registration will begin at 9am. The LIVE Simulcast Conference starts promptly at 10am.

Cost: The conference fee is $10 for the two day event. The fee is $10 if you attend one or both days. FAQs

Are there requirements or an age limit to attend the event?

All adults are welcome to attend the Empowered to Connect Simulcast. Childcare is NOT provided. We ask that families make child care arrangements for their children as we want everyone to be able to focus on the material being presented.

What are my parking options at the event?

There is ample free parking available at the church for all attendees.

What do I bring to the event?

Refreshments will be provided for all attendees during breaks. You are welcome to bring additional snacks to enjoy during break times. You may also find it beneficial to bring a pen or pencil and a notebook to take notes. After you register you can download and print your own workshop workbook.

Meals: There are area restaurants available 3.5 miles from the church. A list of restaurants will be available for those who wish to purchase lunch during the 90 minute "lunch on your own" break. You are also welcomed to pack your own lunch.

Can I get training credit for my Foster Care or Adoption Agency?

Yes you can. You will be emailed a training certificate after the event that you can submit to your agency for training credit.

Can I receive continuing education credits for attending the event?

Professionals can receive CEU’s. This is handled as a separate transaction and involves a fee in addition to the conference fee.
