Generosity

(NOTE: To jump right to our online giving link, click here.)

Zion Church is committed to helping our members grow in all areas of spiritual growth, including generosity. Generosity begins with the biblical understanding that God owns everything. When we believe nothing really belongs to us and that we are only managers, we can begin the generosity journey, allowing God to give us a heart that loves to give.

Like many other areas of spiritual growth, financial generosity isn’t something that comes naturally to most people. We must exercise our generosity to grow in the habit of giving. However, when we give out of love for Christ, and with a generous heart, it causes many changes within us.

Here are a few to think about:

  • It helps us realize that God owns everything. (I Chron 29:11-12)
  • It increases our intimacy and directs our attention and heart to Christ.
  • It increases our character, conforming us to Christ’s image as an unselfish giver. (II Cor 9:6-7)
  • It teaches us to trust and submit everything to God. (Deut 14:22-23)
  • It is our greatest weapon against the idolatry of money and its illusion of power in our lives.

Giving is a part of our corporate worship at Zion. We believe giving cheerfully, regularly, and sacrificially is an act of worship that blesses the giver as much as the receiver. Among many reasons the scriptures give us for why we should give, one that should move your heart most directly, is because giving makes us more like Christ. Giving is absolutely essential to becoming a mature disciple of Jesus.

We realize that everybody is at a different place on their generosity journey, but our hope is that together we will move forward in giving. Some of us are;

Beginners.

First-time givers or individuals who aren’t yet ready for regular giving. Take your time; you are on a journey.

Learners.

You have made the commitment to give regularly, but aren’t yet giving ten percent of your income. Faith grows one percent at a time.

Core Givers.

People who support the work of Zion through ten percent of their income.

Lavish Givers.

Those who give above and beyond ten percent. These people have learned deep generosity over years of walking with Jesus. Many have the gift of giving.

Through generosity, we join with Jesus in furthering His work in the world, funding the life-changing ministry of the church. Our generosity reminds us that this world is not our home. It helps us to live with meaning and purpose.

What is the easiest way to become a regular giver?

Give online, here. It is possible to make a one-time gift or schedule are occurring donation. There are three steps. It is simple, secure, and will only take a few moments to go through the process. Zion Church is a 501c3 organization, and all contributions are tax-deductible.

What if you are not ready to give online but still want to give regularly?

Go to Guest Services and receive a box of offering envelopes. You will be given a specific box number that helps track your contributions. Each envelope is dated to help you make regular offerings.

Where does your offering go?

All contributions go into Zion’s general fund and are administered based on the current year’s approved budget. Zion’s fiscal year goes from July-June. The budget is prepared by the leadership and confirmed by Zion’s members. If you would like to see the budget please speak to your Campus Pastor.

No matter where you are on your generosity journey, thank you for entrusting your resources to Zion Church and assisting us in the mission of helping people discover life in Jesus. If you have more questions or would like more information, please contact your Campus Pastor.
